20 VIC Management is proud to help make a difference in the lives of people in our communities and beyond. Our national partnerships and unique social initiatives, combined with the efforts of our properties at a local level, have supported thousands of charities both financially and through awareness building campaigns.
20 VIC Initiative
For 10 years, 20 VIC Shopping Centres across Canada have forged friendships between police officers and children in need through a unique holiday initiative called CopShop. Armed with $200 in gift cards, volunteer police officers are paired with a child in need for a special shopping spree. Along with a police officer acting as their personal shopping assistant, CopShop kids are treated to a pizza party, a Christmas stocking filled with goodies and, of course, a special visit from Santa himself.
Since 2005, 20 VIC Shopping Centres have provided over 6000 children across Canada with a Christmas they could only dream of and an opportunity to bond with the men and women who protect our communities.
20 VIC Initiative
Each year thousands of children across Canada go without the basic necessity of a winter coat. 20 VIC Shopping Centres help warm the hearts and hands of children in need through its Operation Winter Warmth initiative. By partnering with suppliers, retailers, police departments, school boards and other government agencies, 20 VIC Management has raised over $100,000 and distributed over 3000 coats, along with countless mittens and hats.
Hoarding for Humanity partners with the renowned Habitat for Humanity Canada, a non-profit organization that mobilizes communities in building affordable housing by promoting home ownership as a means to break the cycle of poverty.
With hoarding materials having the shortest life span of all construction materials, Hoarding for Humanity was developed as an environmentally friendly approach to the hoarding process. By selling recycled hoarding material at Humanity Canada ReStores, funds are raised for Habitat for Humanity building projects
Since 2011, 20 VIC properties have donated/diverted almost 35,000 sq ft of hoarding material, a sizeable contribution to the 310,000 sq ft of total construction material donated/diverted to date. In total, nearly $65,000 has been raised to date by Hoarding For Humanity towards new homes for Canadians in need.
The Humanitarian Coalition brings together Canada’s leading aid agencies to finance relief efforts in times of international humanitarian crises. When disaster strikes, each member agency brings its specific expertise to implementing humanitarian programs overseas.
20 VIC properties across Canada first joined forces with the Humanitarian Coalition in 2011, raising awareness and funds for the families of East Africa. Since then, 20 VIC properties have aided the Humanitarian Coalition during several international disasters by appealing to customers to donate through special events, on-site signage and on-line platforms.
20 VIC’s efforts have increased awareness about international emergencies, reduced fundraising costs for the Humanitarian Coalition and have aided survivors of devastating disasters around the world.
